My AI Workflow: Using ChatGPT and Jounce to Create Engaging Blogs

For the last few weeks, I have been experimenting with different AI tools to write blog posts with my mentor Marissa, Founder and Chief Efficiency Officer at Ridiculously Efficient. I took on this project to learn more about the future of AI and where I see myself in this space as the world of technology evolves.

I have been freelance writing for almost 3 years now, so I knew writing with AI tools was going to be an adjustment (and it still is). I was most worried about the content being boring and did not have a lot of trust in an AI's writing skills.

Now that I use AI tools to create blogs frequently, I have found a flow that works well to make content exciting and easy to read. I want to share with you my step-by-step guide on how I use AI so you can skip the hours of testing as I did.

Be warned:

  • The AI has better writing skills than you would imagine
  • You’ll have way more time on your hands
  • You can spend more time being creative about your topics
  • And you can spend more time on blog content strategy

Disclaimer: This review will be going over writing blog articles with AI, not coming up with content ideas or keywords.

Step 1: Use ChatGPT to develop to create a blog title based on keywords

We all know how important keywords are to our blog writing, so we need to use that in our title from the beginning. Use ChatGPT to develop a title that uses your keywords.

In this example, I will be using architectural innovation in Denmark as my topic. I asked ChatGPT the following question:

As an AI, ChatGPT is pulling information from data from the web. So when directing it to write a title, be sure to remind the AI the title needs to follow best SEO practices.

Without telling it to do so, it will simply create a title without that “in mind.”

Pro tip: Need some help coming up with blog content? Use ChatGPT to create a list of blog content ideas.

Step 2: Use Jounce AI to create a blog outline based on your title

With the title ChatGPT created, ask Jounce to create a blog outline as noted here:

I have used both ChatGPT and Jounce to create outlines for blog articles before. I prefer Jounce because it gives a shorter, more punchy outline. If I were writing an essay I would use ChatGPT to write my outline. But to each their own, try them both out and see which outline you prefer.

Overall, this outline will set you up with a structure. It is also the best place to start if you are having difficulty coming up with ideas or have limited writing skills. I do this for almost every blog I write now because it prepares me for success.

Step 3: Use Jounce to make the introduction paragraph

I was previously using Jounce to make a “One-Shot Blog Post” where the AI would write the blog in its entirety based on the information I provided it. I didn’t like this because it would be repetitive.

I wanted the most information possible without it being dull.

However, I enjoyed how the AI wrote the introduction paragraph because you could insert the tone you would like to use. This is what mine looks like.

Have Jounce spit out an introduction paragraph in just a few seconds.

💁🏼‍♀️
Pro tip: Generate a few different intro paragraphs but don’t delete them. For each intro paragraph the AI generates, copy and paste it into a separate document. This way, if you like certain pieces of one and not another you can manually change those out.

Step 4: Return to ChatGPT to write the body paragraphs of your blog

To keep your information from becoming stale, we are going to return to ChatGPT to write out our body paragraphs.

Here’s what I told ChatGPT:

This gave me a very long paragraph on Zero Energy Buildings in Denmark but I liked the content it provided. I just needed to make it a little punchier. So I added:

I like to be polite with the AI.

Continue to do this for the body paragraphs you would like to include in the blog based on the outline you have. I will usually copy and paste the ChatGPT paragraphs back into Jounce as it is created.

💁🏼‍♀️
Pro tip: Bloggers sometimes overlook the power of bullet points. Ask ChatGPT to create bullet points instead of a paragraph. Keep the reader's attention by changing up how you write your content.

Step 5: Return to Jounce to create your conclusion paragraph

Include your headers in the ‘What are the main points or outline of your blog post’. Then include a CTA and keep your tone from the introduction paragraph the same.

This may generate some repetitive information from the AI that you provided through your blog so if anything is repeated just delete it. The most important piece here is your CTA at the end of the blog.

Step 6: Add to SurferSEO to check keywords and SERP information

Once I have a written blog provided by ChatGPT and Jounce, I go to SurferSEO to check my score for SERP ranking. This also allows me time to review what the AI had written and adjust the blog as needed.

SurferSEO does an incredible job at providing you with information to utilize your keywords to rank well in a search engine. If it feels like you are missing a certain keyword or have vague headlines, return to ChatGPT to develop headers for you.

Continue to use ChatGPT then to create more paragraphs and sentences you may need to rank the highest.

This will be the most time-consuming part of writing the blog but is well worth it.

Hopefully, this helps with developing blogs that are not boring to read but also aligned with your business goals. Of course, it will not be perfect but that’s where we come in. To shape the story as we see fit.
