Every week, there’s a new viral productivity hack making the rounds: wake up at 4am, cold plunge in an ice bath, track every second of your day, optimize, optimize, optimize. And listen—if that works for you, great. But if you’ve ever felt like those routines don’t quite fit your life or your energy, I want to offer a different path.
I’ve never worked a 9–5. I’m a multi-6-figure founder and strategist who walks her son to school most mornings, cooks dinner in the kitchen I grew up in, and fiercely protects her peace, joy, and energy. I’ve built systems that support how I actually want to live—not just how I think I should.
10 Things I Don’t Do in My Daily Routine
Here’s what my version of success doesn’t look like:
1. Wake up at 4am
I wake up when my body is ready—usually between 6:30 and 7:30. I spent years pushing through exhaustion. Now, I protect my rest like it’s my job. My Oura ring is my accountability partner.
2. Jump straight into work
Unless something urgent is happening, I ease into the day. I walk my son to school. I let my brain and body wake up slowly. Peak productivity comes later, and I honor that rhythm.
3. Put work over health
I move every day. Whether it’s yoga, a walk, or bouncing on a trampoline with my son, movement keeps me grounded and energized. I recently added a walking pad to my desk setup to up my steps without extra friction.
4. Work through lunch
Lunch is a pause, not a pit stop. I eat, breathe, and regroup—often outside. That midday reset sharpens the second half of my day.
5. Time block every second
I plan my priorities, not every minute. I know what moves the needle and how I work best. The rest flexes with the flow of the day.
6. Cold plunge
Been there, done that. Right now, I’m in my warm water, sun-on-my-skin, barefoot-on-the-ground era. That’s what nourishes me in this season.
7. Work after 5pm
Evenings are for family, books, rest, and zero urgency. My deep work happens earlier, by design. A Slack ping here or there? Maybe. But no laptop marathons.
8. Have a personal chef
We cook at home most nights—often together as a family. We eat real food that fuels us, without obsessing over perfection.
9. Constantly network
I build relationships through resonance, not reach. The best opportunities in my career came from trust and alignment, not chasing the biggest rooms.
10. Avoid TV
We watch racing. A lot of racing. Formula 1, Lego F1, race recaps. (My son is a future champion, after all.) But that 7-9pm wind-down window? Sacred.
Build Systems That Reflect You—Not the Algorithm
This routine isn’t a prescription.
It’s not a flex. It’s not a 10-step plan to manifest millions.
It’s a reminder.
You can build systems that support you. Your energy. Your family. Your goals. Your pace.
Because the truth is, you don’t need someone else’s highlight reel to tell you how to lead. You need a system that reflects your values and honors the way you actually want to live.
Why Viral Productivity Hacks Burn People Out
Chasing hacks leads to dependency.
You’re always looking for the next fix.
The next method.
The next trend to follow.
That doesn’t create freedom—it creates anxiety.
The real power? Comes from designing systems that are built for you. Ones that work in the background, even when life gets loud or messy.

What Success Looks Like (To Me)
For me, success looks like:
- Building businesses from my backyard
- Supporting visionary founders while being fully present for my family
- Spending afternoons with my son and evenings with my husband
- Sleeping deeply and waking up without an alarm
- Working with clients I genuinely admire
...and doing it all in a way that leaves me feeling nourished, not depleted.
This didn’t happen by accident. It came from ruthless clarity, powerful boundaries, intentional habits, and a refusal to play by someone else’s rules.
Self-Audit: Is Your System Working For You?
If you’re ready to build a system that works for you, here’s a simple self-audit to start:
1. Energy:
When do you feel most clear, focused, and energized? Are you structuring your day to protect those windows?
2. Priorities:
What actually moves the needle in your business? Are you spending time there, or getting stuck in low-leverage tasks?
3. Boundaries:
What are you saying yes to that you actually want to say no to? Where do you need stronger guardrails?
4. Recovery:
How do you refill your tank? Are you giving yourself enough rest, joy, and connection?
5. Support:
What would feel like a breath of fresh air right now? A system? A team member? A simplified schedule?
Write your answers down. Let them guide the next few adjustments you make.
What If Success Could Feel Easier?
You don’t have to wake up at 4am. You don’t have to cold plunge. You don’t have to be on 24/7 to build something meaningful.
Harvard agrees, you can (and should) build your routines around your own energy and goals.
You can design a business that supports your actual life, not your “aspirational” one.
One where:
- Your calendar reflects your priorities
- Your energy is protected, not depleted
- Your workflow matches how your brain works
- Your wins don’t come at the cost of your wellbeing
This isn’t just possible. It’s smart.
And if you’re craving clarity on where to start—I can help.
