A year ago, my body said no to a book project. This April, the same project came back and my body said yes.
The only thing that changed was what I'd built in between.
The first time, the communication overhead would have eaten my Tuesdays. The level of detail would have made me the bottleneck. My stomach tied up in knots every time I thought about saying yes to the project. So I said no.
A year later, the same person returned with the same opportunity. When the email arrived, my chest opened. By the time I'd finished reading, I was already drafting the reply.
The reason I said yes this time was my wall of sticky notes had become a working system I'd grown to trust and love. What used to require months of long days, I could now handle in a 90-minute session.
The body says yes when you've grown enough to hold it. The no you gave a year ago might still be open.
