I expect this in my professional life.

What I didn't expect was where it got loudest first.

Here's what I discovered when I started clearing space in my calendar and my commitments: the professional identity gap was just the visible layer.

Underneath it sat a whole architecture of roles I never consciously chose.

Household CEO. Default parent. The one who remembers when the toilet paper runs low, and orders it. The person who tracks which friend's kid has which allergy for the birthday party and which spirit day it is this week at school. The human reminder system everyone assumes will just keep running.
