Only what honors me remains

The difference between loving yourself and honoring yourself.
Only what honors me remains

This morning I sat on the patio before the house woke up, coffee warm in both hands, and savored in the sensation I spent years chasing: nothing urgent, nothing to prove. Relaxed shoulders, and a quiet moment that was all mine.

This has been a summer of putting things down. Like the reflex to monetize my joy. Or the scoreboard I measured my body against. One by one, I set them on the ground and did not pick them back up.

Somewhere in the middle of it, the real principle surfaced.

Loving yourself is a feeling. Honoring yourself is what you do about it: the actions you take, and the ones you stop, because you respect the person you are becoming.

Only what honors me remains.
