Your regulation is everyone else's permission

When you regulate your nervous system, you give everyone around you permission to do the same.

I walked into a CTOx delivery call last month already activated. I'd had a tense conversation about scheduling 20 minutes earlier, and I hadn't given myself time to land before joining.

Within 10 minutes, the energy in the room shifted. People who are usually relaxed started talking faster. Someone interrupted someone else (rare for this group). By the end, two members seemed guarded in a way I don't usually see.

Nothing about the content was different. The agenda was the same. The only variable was me.

(I didn't realize it until that evening, when my chest was still tight and I replayed the session in my head.)

Your nervous system is the most contagious thing in the room.
